The best kinds of solutions are ones that can be seamlessly integrated into the current tools of choice, and those that can be accessed at any point from the process. So without further ado, I present to you the first collection of key tools we use to make our lives easier:

Coolors

Get inspired! Coolors is a color palette randomizer with the ability to lock down or enter colors you gotta have, while exploring potentially harmonious color combinations. After creating an account you can save multiple palettes, and export the colors into an eps file format for easy application in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Sketch. Currently they’re working on developing Illustrator and Photoshop add-ons for even more integrated bliss!

coolors

ColorZilla

Gone are the tedious days of taking website screencaps, and dragging art into a program with an eyedrop color picker. When picking from the site, ColorZilla automatically copies the hex code to your clipboard, and provides the RGB values. An impressive feature is the Ultimate CSS Gradient Generator, complete with hue and saturation sliders.

colorzilla

Specctr

Devs and Designers get along best when we communicate clearly and effectively. To any eagle-eyed artist, this is most imperative when it comes to layout and visual quality assurance. Specctr helps to spell out sizing, font details, color, and padding so that clarity is delivered early on. Super customizable, you can set measurements in percentage (for responsive design), and scale up specs without having to alter your art (for example, if you created half size designs to save on space, double the specs to reflect true size). Only down side is they don’t yet have a plugin for Sketch. One day!

specctr

Skitch

Cmd + Shift + 5; the go-to shortcut to launch screen capture and annotation. My favourite thing about Skitch is how quick it is to sync my marked up image, and how it updates the “note” as I go. Saves a lot of time and offers clarity especially when working remotely from your team. Your notes are hosted on Evernote, accessible through a single URL, removing the need to upload files multiple times (e.g. to Jira, Email, Slack, etc).

skitch

Invision

Bringing your ideas to life and putting them through the paces before full development is crucial. Invision allows for speedy demonstration of your flow concepts and transitions on desktop and on device. Pinpoint commenting allows for concise collaboration and feedback between teams.

Invision

Sim Daltonism

Accessibility is just as important when making sure a design works in terms of balance, hierarchy, harmony, and excitement. While still a work in progress, Sim Daltonism is a helpful real-time simulator tool to demonstrate what your designs could look like as seen by a colorblind person. You can make adjustments to contrast and ensure it’s working on multiple levels. Available filters are: Monochromacy (complete), Monochromacy (partial), Protanopia (complete red-green), Protanomaly (partial red-green), Deuteranopia (complete red-green), Deuteranomaly (partial red-green), Tritanopia (complete blue-yellow), Tritanomaly (partial blue-yellow).

simdaltonism

Noun project (icon archive)

Noun Project gives you access to “Thousands of glyph icons from different artists. Some icons are free and some for a fee,” downloadable as PNGs or SVGs. The desktop app allows designers to drag and drop icons directly onto their artboards.

noun_project

WhatFont

While designers pride themselves on being able to ID Garamond and Open Sans in a flash, there are just as many designers continuing to produce gorgeous typefaces. Have the answer at your fingertips without breaking your stride. They don’t stop at just the typeface name; WhatFont includes line height and point size, as well as a preview of the rest of the font.

whatfont

Page Ruler

This Chrome extension is useful especially when going through visual quality insurance, or to answer a passing curiosity. Bypass taking screencaps and checking in an external app, and check sizing from the browser. What I like best about this tool is the pressure is off; there isn’t a need to be precise on the first shot. You can reposition, resize, and Element Mode highlights objects on the page as you hover over, taking out the guesswork of where they begin and end.

page_ruler

Responsive Inspector

Rather than getting within hugging distance of your screen, in order to test exact screen sizes for your responsive site, this Chrome extension snaps your browser into shape. Responsive Inspector also provides CSS media query code viewing per screen size.

responsive inspector

Sketch Content Generator Plugin

For those times that real data and content is unavailable, use this Sketch plugin for fleshing out your designs.

sketch

Snaffu

During the periods of vigorous functional & UI testing, Snaffu is your new best friend (and I’m not just saying that because we built it). Installable in your app and triggered by shaking the device, Snaffu captures all build and device info, and a screencap of the offending bug. Annotation tools draw attention to the issue, and anyone on the team can add the issue directly into JIRA, Pivotal Tracker, or Asana to be addressed. Having Snaffu integrated into your app makes for seamless testing and reporting right from the device, saving time and energy usually spent on tedious data capture and entry.

Conclusion

Both UI and UX developers have recognized the importance of animated pictures in presenting their ideas that are a result of their painstaking work and inherent artistry. With GIF animations, the usually irritating and time-consuming procedure of explaining to clients can be averted. No matter how wonderful the screenshots of app concepts are, only short and fully animated GIFs can convey and demonstrate the interaction between all of the vital components in a more alive manner.

While most of them hardly manage to take hold of our attention, there are a few which find a way to perch themselves into our bookmarks and are scattered throughout browser’s history. The following list is not about those websites! Instead it brings forth what lies behind the websites – dashboards -and lets the site admins dictate how their website works.

Dashboard is essentially an interface between a site’s intricate details and the site administrator. It can be thought of as a control panel – and labeled as an admin panel – that hands over the entire control of a website’s functionality in the website managers hands. Using these controls, he can decide what is the landing page of the site, how many posts appear on the landing page, how the sidebars and bottom bars look like, how the header and footer is aligned and all the whodunit that there is to the appearance a website. In any case, the extensions and plugins for added functionality, the Editor files, for example, can also be controlled and modified with these dashboards. Every Content Management System provides these dashboards.

But when all is said and done, not all Dashboards are created equally. There are some that stand out for the user by ensuring a versatile and dynamic experience. Not only are these dashboards vibrant and colorful to look at, but the take the ease of use and control management to a whole new level. They let the admin take intuitive decisions through help of much more in-depth stats and graphs. Let’s get underway with this list of graphically rich and detailed dashboards that have made their foray into our World Wide Web:

Jetpack travel like you’ve never seen it http://www.indscoop.com/jetpack-travel-like-youve-never-seen-it/ http://www.indscoop.com/jetpack-travel-like-youve-never-seen-it/#respond Thu, 14 May 2015 02:08:33 +0000 http://www.techinfolabz.com/?p=2487 […]]]> Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet, the two innovators behind the Jetman Dubai jetpack athlete team, have released an incredible video of their synchronized jetpack flight high above Dubai and the surrounding desert.

Rossy, a fearless professional pilot from Switzerland, is a leading innovator in the field of propelled human flight, having created his own custom jetpack after years of experimentation and customization. This flight represents the experience that he and his protege, Reffet, have gathered during years of practice.

The jetpack Rossy designed is the closest that mankind has comes to the jetpacks that we’ve all seen in sci-fi media like The Rocketeer. They need the assistance of another aircraft to take flight, but can gain altitude and sustain flight for anywhere from 6 to 13 minutes at speeds between 180 and 300 km/h.

Best places to visit in 2015

From old tourist favourites hosting big events and countries celebrating anniversaries to emerging hot spots, here are the travel destinations that should be on your radar in the coming year. From great bargains to exciting new experiences and attractions, these are the best places to add to your bucket list. So where are you going in 2015?

Australia

1. Australia

Held between 14 February and 29 March in Australia and New Zealand, the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup is expected to draw a large number of fans to the two countries with attractive airfares and packages. Australia will host 26 games across seven cities, with the finals being held at Melbourne. It’s a good excuse to explore the subcontinent’s hip cities, and its diverse architectural and natural wonders, ranging from the Great Barrier Reed to the Sydney Opera House. India’s matches will be held in major cities such as Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

New Zealand

2. New Zealand

With its surreal landscape of lakes, waterfalls, green hills and pristine beaches, New Zealand deserves a visit just for its natural splendour. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 offers even bigger reasons to head to the co-hosting country. The match venues are Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Naper, Nelson, Dunedin and Christchurch, most in close proximity to wonders such Lake Taupo, Milford Sound and Abel Tasman National Park. Tip: The gorgeous beaches, valleys and forests of the Coromandel peninsula (pictured) are just a short drive away from Auckland, the venue of the India vs Zimbabwe match.

Sri Lanka

3. Sri Lanka

Just a hop, skip and jump away, India’s neighbouring country is often overlooked but offers great value for money. Since the end of the civil war, numerous new areas are now opening up to travellers. From hilltop forts and colourful temples to tea plantations and pristine beaches, it has a plethora of landscapes waiting to be explored. Don’t forget to look up the country’s diverse wildlife, including birds, leopards, elephants and bears, at the Yala National Park and the recently-reopened Wilpattu National Park.

Myanmar

4. Myanmar

Ever since Myanmar’s government began encouraging tourism a few years ago, the country has seen a steady stream of visitors. This is the right time to discover its diverse ethnic groups and traditional ways of life before the advent of globalisation. Marvel over the golden pagodas, visit a traditional teahouse, and slurp over the aromatic dishes. Your most memorable experience is likely to be a hot air balloon ride over the 3000-odd ancient temples and pagodas at Bagan (pictured), a UNESCO World Heritage Site that rivals the grandeur of Angkor Wat. Myanmar is also blessed with ample natural beauty: beautiful and unspoiled beaches dot its 2000-km-long coastline, the Irrawaddy River flows across the length of the country, while the Inle Lake is lined with floating villages and gardens.

Brazil

5. Brazil

As the host of the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Summer Olympics in 2016, Brazil has been in tourist limelight over the past few years. 2015 is a great time to snag a bargain before the influx of crowds at the Olympics next year. Improvements in airports, railways and roads have also made it easier to explore the country’s diverse landscapes, ranging from the Amazon rainforest to the Iguazu Falls. With countless new shops, hotels and restaurants, visitors are spoilt for choice unlike ever before.

Singapore

6. Singapore

In 2015, Singapore celebrates 50 years of independence from Britain with year-round celebrations. Expect fireworks, parades, shows, rallies and more reasons to visit the Lion City. In the build-up to the Golden Jubilee, several new attractions have been unveiled in the last few years: the Singapore Sports Hub which will host the 2015 ASEAN Games, Singapore Zoo’s River Safari, Gardens by the Bay and the waterfront entertainment and dining complex Marina Bay Sands. In 2015, Singapore’s National Gallery, a massive centre of modern and contemporary visual art, will be inaugurated in the Civic District, along with Jubilee Walk, a new walkway connecting it to Marina Bay. With a string of new hotels like Wangz, The Patina Capitol Singapore and Sofitel So Singapore, the city is only set to become more stylish.

Vietnam

7. Vietnam

There’s no better year to explore Vietnam’s historic cities and scenic landscapes than 2015, the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Your choices range from old favourites such as Halong Bay (pictured), and the colonial cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; to offbeat ones such as bicycling along the rice paddies of Mekong River Delta and the dramatic scenery at the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. Don’t forget to sample the country’s flavourful street food and visit its floating markets. The best time to visit is between November and March.

Nambia

8. Nambia

There are many reasons to visit this country in southern Africa, which celebrates its 25th anniversary of independence in 2015. The Namib Sand Sea, a coastal desert skirting the Atlantic Ocean is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with unending sand dunes, meandering river streams, an atmosphere shrouded with fog and rich wildlife. A year-round safari destination, Namibia has been lauded for its conservation efforts, with parks such as the Desert Rhino Camp and Okonjima Game Reserve offering exceptional wildlife experiences.

Milan

9. Milan

Famous for being the world’s fashion capital, this Italian city is hosting a mammoth international fair called the Expo 15 for eight months starting May 2015. Focusing on food and nutrition, the Expo promises to be every gourmand’s dream come true with exotic food stalls and tastings, lectures and discussions. Spread over an area of one million sq m, the fairgrounds are designed like a classical Roman metropolis surrounded by a canal. With participants from over 140 countries, the fair is expected to draw approximately 20 million visitors. La Scala, the city’s famous opera house will stay open throughout the Expo, with daily performances by stars such as Zubin Mehta. New institutions like the Museo delle Culture and the Fondazione Prada arts centre will also open their doors to the public.

Paris

10. Paris

There’s more to Paris than Eiffel Tower. In 2014, even as the City of Light debated about building its first skyscraper in four decades, winds of change were blowing with the reopening of the Picasso Museum; the inauguration of a grand concert hall called Philharmonie de Paris and the mint museum, the Musee de La Monnaie de Paris; and new buildings such as the Fondation Louis Vuitton and Fondation Jerome Sedouz-Pathe. The city’s also got a bunch of new or revamped luxury hotels: the Ritz, Hotel de Crillon, and the Plaza Athenee.

Maverick entrepreneur and co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs is the current grandmaster of technology. Business savvy and a risk taker, Jobs is the visionary who redefined technology with world changing products like the Personal Computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook

Whizkid Zuckerberg almost single handedly transformed the Internet from a place people went to get information to a place they went to meet each other. Facebook gave the virtual world a patina of humanity, the real world a new medium of interpersonal relationships, and made Zuckerberg not only this generation’s phenomenon, but also the second youngest billionaire in the world. Interesting fact: The youngest billionaire is Dustin Moskovitz – co-founder of Facebook and 8 days younger than Zuckerberg, his Harvard roommate

Bill Gates, Microsoft

The Microsoft founder has passed the legion of supergeeks into the pantheon of technological demi-gods. The richest man in the world from 1995 to 2007 is currently the second richest. He holds 8 percent of Microsoft stock and now functions as the non-executive chairman of the company. Over the years, Gates and wife Melinda have made philanthropy their primary concern and recently pledged to give away at least half their fortune to charity with time

Linus Torvalds, Linux

This Finnish engineer is virtually unknown outside the inner circles of technology, yet he is among the most influential figures in software development. A believer in open source software, Torvalds initiated thedevelopment of the Linux Kernel. He now acts as the coordinator of the project. A modified version of the Linux kernel powers the ubiqitous Android OS

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google

Evan Williams, Twitter & Blogger

Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo

Even if you’ve never played a video game, chances are you’ve heard of Super Mario Bros. Shigeru Miyamoto is the Japanese game designer behind popular Nintendo titles like Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and the grand old man of gaming, Mario

Jeffrey Bezos, Amazon

In 1994, this Princeton graduate started Amazon.com from his garage in Seattle and changed the face of online retail forever. He began with selling books online but soon diversified into, well, almost everything. Amazon made him a billionaire as well as Time magazine’s person of the year in 1999.

Tim Berners-Lee, the World Wide Web

20 years ago British physicist and computer scientist Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, the first web browser and the first web server. This man is the reason we can access webpages and surf the Internet using browsers today

Akio Morita, Sony

Former naval officer Akio Morita left his family business of sake, miso and soy sauce to co-found Sony Corporation in 1946. Most of Sony’s path-breaking products like magnetic tapes, tape recorders, pocket-sized radios, the Walkman and the Discman were developed under his leadership

Top 10 web design trends for 2014 http://www.indscoop.com/top-10-web-design-trends-for-2014/ http://www.indscoop.com/top-10-web-design-trends-for-2014/#respond Sun, 09 Mar 2014 07:19:25 +0000 http://www.techinfolabz.com/?p=1687 […]]]> Web designers had a great time last year with lots of new ideas setting sail. Although some sank, others took off and created a permanent impact.

The trends that made a big splash in 2013 will become house-hold names in 2014, while emerging trends continue to get polished and refined by designers everywhere.

So what trends lie before us in 2014? Let’s get started, and be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments.

1. Flat design thrives

flat-altenrative

wistia.com is a great example of flat design.

If you think this was just another fad, then you are mistaken. Flat design is minimalist design on steroids. It’s about keeping it simple, clean and modern which are words you often hear out of most clients’ mouths.

The reason why everybody is using flat design is because it makes sense. We have less clutter, more use of white space and overall a better user experience. It forces designers to achieve more by using less and for that, I consider it the number one trend for 2014.

2. Responsive design is a must

responsive

KasraDesign looks great on any device, no matter the size.

This will become a standard, no question about it. Clients will ask for it, developers will learn the coding requirements and then subsequently push for it. The reasoning is simple: demand. Since smartphones and tablets are selling like hotcakes there is huge marketing potential. You’ll see even your smallest business owner talking about it because they’re seeing responsive in action on other sites.

3. Websites showcase better images

better-images

Portraits does a great job elevating an apparent simple image to a central point of a website.

Designers have been pushing for better images for a long time, yet they’ve always had trouble on the client side. 2014 will bring higher quality, more creative and unique images because of multiple reasons: pricing is affordable; loading speed is faster than ever; access to high quality images is everywhere.

4. Parallax websites grow in popularity

parallax

Hot Dog uses the parallax effect to pack a powerful punch.

Long gone are the days of the 960 pixel website that had to work great on IE6. It’s all about the impact and making a BIG statement. Parallax design achieves that successfully with its scrolling mischief, powerful imagery, and strong and creative typography. You will see more and more of this in 2014 especially from big brands

5. Infographics remain the best way of representing data

infographic

Gabriel Gianordoli did an excellent job with this amazing infographic.

They present a lot of information in a small space, they’re eye-catching and they don’t cost the world. That’s why business owners are asking for them. The end-user likes infographics because each of them has its own personality — they’re a bit quirky, they combine typography, bold color schemes and shapes in a way that intrigues viewers.

Creatives who take them seriously always create a story atmosphere around their facts and numbers. Maybe it brings us back to our childhood comics, maybe it’s just the eye candy. Fact is, we’re absorbing loads of information and we love it. Because it’s such an effective way of communicating large pieces of data, it will definitely be used more and more in 2014.

6. Typography takes center stage

typography

Crop The Block is a prime example of mix and match typography.

Goodbye Georgia, goodbye Times New Roman, goodbye Helvetica! Welcome to 2014 — the year where typography gets serious. Actually it was always serious, now it’s just arriving at mainstream status. The avalanche of mobile apps we’ve all been swimming in has exposed our eyes to all sorts of typography goodies and that has had a major factor in our font usage expectations.

Arial is no longer good enough because of the availability of high quality fonts at affordable prices. The user is accustomed to them to the point where he feels something is missing if he’s staring at the same ole’ Helvetica and on the other hand the business owner is no longer paying an arm and a leg for a complete font family.

7. Websites simplify and focus on content

nytimes

Check out the redesign story of The New York Times here.

The New York Times recent redesigned website speaks volumes about this up and coming trend through it’s simpler, cleaner approach which aims to offer a far better user experience. While this isn’t anything new, I believe more and more websites, especially those that are content-heavy, will follow suit as this is the next logical step. Stripping away all the bells and whistles allows the actual content to shine and makes the design perform its actual role, instead of it trying to steal the spotlight.

8. Short presentation videos re-emerge

video

Goldee‘s video, although a hefty two minutes, still shows us why presentation clips beat images any day.

I think presentation videos will re-emerge in 2014 because of the Vine explosion. The six second videos are more likely to go viral, they’re easy to make and everybody seems to love them. In the last few years, we’ve seen a constant shortening of videos and this upcoming year will promote under 30 second clips to get the point across — you can thank Vine for that.

9. Newsletter designs continue to improve

mini-boden-pancakes

Miniboden‘s newsletter shows us a great design, but more importantly it’s tailored for their specific audience.

Email marketing is no longer the only way to reach our audience, but it still is a medium that keeps your users interested in your content. In 2014, newsletters will stay afloat by being more creative and more exciting. So even though it’s not the preferred channel anymore, it’s not going to die anytime soon — smart business owners are recognizing the shift that’s happening.

10. Fixed navigations gets lots of love

fixe

TheoryDesign, who specializes in UI/UX, prefers a fixed navigation over a standard one.

There was a time when designers felt the need to over-design just about anything on the page, including the main menu. Thankfully those times are gone, and we no longer need to look for a flash menu hidden under a ribbon somewhere on the side of the screen.

In 2014, navigation bars will be available at all times! So, if you’re dealing with a content heavy website, then a fixed position sidebar or top menu will be the logical approach.

What do you think will be the next big trend in 2014?

The good thing is that a lot of web designers also agree with this saying, specially if you pay attention to the amount of websites using big and beautiful photos in their layouts. From huge background images to big thumbnails, we have a lot of different examples to show you how images can create an emotional connection with the viewer while grabbing their attention.

The websites that we’ve gathered here are inspiring for several reasons. They sport beautiful type, sleek navigation, sharp icons, and ample whitespace. They are certainly worth checking out.

25+ Awesome Examples of Responsive Web Design http://www.indscoop.com/25-awesome-examples-of-responsive-web-design/ http://www.indscoop.com/25-awesome-examples-of-responsive-web-design/#respond Sat, 08 Feb 2014 02:51:52 +0000 http://www.techinfolabz.com/?p=1205 […]]]> Responsive web design is undoubtedly a rapidly growing trend right now, the increasing tablet and mobile device usage has definitely been an ingredient in the success of web responsiveness. It would not be surprising to see the majority of popular websites adapt responsive web designs in the near future. Responsive websites not only enhance the user experience when viewed on tablets or mobiles, but it is mind-blowingly cool to see designs adapt to the size of a browser window as you resize it. I’ve compiled some of the best examples of responsive web design for inspiration. Check them out below and let us know your opinions.

1. Future of Web Design 2013

futureofwebdesign_london2013

As the name suggests, this is a website for the Future of Web Design Conference in London 2013. For its namesake the website itself is amazingly responsive and is definitely a benchmark for any responsive site with a tile like design. Every part of its functionality has been accounted for despite using three layouts. Even the color scheme changes slightly as the width reduces.

2. Andersson Wise Architects

anderssonwise

There are not many responsive websites that abuse the use of large and beautiful images (yet). However, Andersson Wise does this beautifully and very fluidly. The homepage and project pages highlights perfect transitions between the full width desktop and mobile/tablet versions. Highly effective style of responsive image gallery used here, this one is a must see.

3. Shiny Demos

shinydemos

Made by the Opera developer relations team, this website shows off the latest Open Web Standards in a big way. Although browsers that support every feature of the site are limited, not much will get in the way of admiring its dual responsive layouts. Pure genius!

4. Kava Ruzova

kavaruzova

Simple and effective one page site that utilizes Google Maps very nicely. There isn’t anything outstanding about the design or functionality at all, but this is a great example of “less is more” when it comes to using responsive web design.

5. Performance Marketing Awards 2013

performancemarketingawards2013

At first glance this website is an unlikely candidate for a responsive design. Be surprised as the tablet layout includes a drop-down menu and cleverly rearranges the site content. This is a great example of very practical uses of responsive design for an event based site.

6. William Csete

williamcsete

There are many web designers and developers with brilliant responsive websites, William Csete is the first in this showcase. With a clean approach, this website clearly demonstrates the advantages of responsive web design when it comes to navigation. The usability of the menu is straight forward and prominent on every screen size as shown below.

7. Stuff & Nonsense

stuffandnonsense

These guys took the humorous approach and made this website extra fun. Besides the great use of illustrations, scrolling background and a cute drop down logo animation, the coolest thing about this site is the illustrated man on the scooter that becomes younger as the width of the website decreases. Oh, the scooter he rides on gets “younger” too!

8. Digital Atelier

digitalatelier

It’s hard to have a responsive web design showcase without this site. With it’s sleek modern design and seamless single page website transitions I’m surprised it hasn’t won any web awards yet. The text menu converts into icons at smaller layouts and the usability is frankly top notch regardless of layout size.

9. Design made in Germany Issue 5

dmig5

No wonder this is a crowd favorite. Very effective use of scrolling navigation and persistent background that is distinctly well designed for responsiveness. Clever removal of the large “Dmig” in smaller layouts put the icing on this cake.

10. Forefathers Group

forefathersgroup

Not everyone is a fan of the antique and older style design. This responsive website pulls it off nicely, take special note of the evolving navigation and seamless removal of design elements.

11. TIME

time

TIME Magazine is likely the most recognized and prestigious name in terms of printed media. Their online magazine-styled website lives up to the name with no problems, exhibiting great use of responsive web design principles. Its effective use of space and prioritization of important content can easily go unnoticed.

12. Lab Fiftyfive

labfiftyfive

After the initial awe from the nifty mouse over effects wear off, you’ll notice the effectiveness of dual navigation and its proven usability transitioned into every responsive layout. See if you can find the Easter egg on this site!

13. Hicksdesign

hicksdesign

This is a prime example of “a smaller layout doesn’t necessarily mean all the elements get shrunk”. You’ll notice the consistent prominence of the blue circular icon regardless of device size.

14. Deren Keskin

derenkeskin

There aren’t too many typography based website designs, probably due to the difficulty in creating visual stimulus without the use of imagery. Deren Keskin does an awesome job of this and abuses his talent with typography. The main feature of this site is the large responsive text title.

15. Seminal Responsive Web Design Example

seminalexample

At first I was hesitant to include this website since it’s only an example, but it illustrates how responsive design isn’t limited to layout changes. This example demonstrates incredible precise fine-tuning to reshape pages: increasing target area on links for smaller screens, selectively show or hide elements to enhance a page’s navigation are demonstrated perfectly here.

16. FortyOneTwenty

fourtyonetwenty

Embedding videos is inevitable on the web, FortyOneTwenty makes embedded video the primary focus in their responsive design. On supported devices the Vimeo video functions no differently and remains the star of the show here.

17. Oliver Russell

oliverrussell

Effortless simplicity describes this website perfectly. The obvious thought put into the responsive design shines in the effective user experience of smaller layouts – which is arguably better than the full width layout. The smart rearrangement of the company logo is also a nice touch.

18. Siyelo

siyelo

There’s actually nothing fancy at all about this responsive design. However, that is the beauty of it. This site presents flawless layouts without any drastic changes to the user interface and content at all, whilst maintaining solid usability.

19. The Next Web

thenextweb

This well known online news site is actually wonderfully responsive. It’s a very good example of how responsive web design can benefit content heavy sites as well. All three layouts of The Next Web boldly emphasizes its latest news content and the advertisements are the first to disappear – fortunately for readers.

20. Kings Hill Cars

kingshillcars

“I love my big banner image too much!”, responsive web design doesn’t mean sacrificing the best part of your website at all. The notable feature of this website is definitely the consistency of the main car image and the banner message which is never compromised despite the responsiveness of this website.

21. Ginger Whale

gingerwhale

Besides having very cute animations and nicely drawn illustrations, this website is a splendid example of using both width and height responsiveness. It’s rare, but the navigation of this Ginger Whale website completely relies on the height being responsive.

22. United Pixelworkers

unitedpixelworkers

One of the best implementations of responsive e-commerce design currently. With a daunting amount of different products it can be difficult to design responsively, United Pixelworkers solved this issue with a tiled design that is surprisingly user-friendly on smaller devices.

23. Treasure of FrontEnd Island

treasurefrontend

Having a visually impressive menu on a full width website can become a problem during responsive web design. The illustrated character menu on this is fun website is just as impressive on different devices and the fantastic illustrations do not go to waste.

24. Audio Vroom

audiovroom

There are plenty of online audio streaming websites, but this one stands out in terms of responsiveness. The user interface re-positions on smaller devices for a better user experience, simple responsive web concepts executed flawlessly.

25. Somewhat

somewhat

This might be against some design morals, but it is entirely possible for a website to look significantly different depending on browser or device size. The user experience could be completely distinct dependent on layout, this idea opens up a whole world of responsive web design possibilities which this website is a front runner for.

26. Lancaster University

lancasteruni

Very typical corporate looking website that is amazingly responsive. The Lancaster University website uses a variety of techniques to ensure every piece of functionality is accessible regardless of screen width or device size. There isn’t much eye-candy, but plenty of responsive design went into this website.

25 Transparent and Glossy Mobile App Interfaces http://www.indscoop.com/25-transparent-and-glossy-mobile-app-interfaces/ http://www.indscoop.com/25-transparent-and-glossy-mobile-app-interfaces/#respond Fri, 18 Oct 2013 21:55:25 +0000 http://www.techinfolabz.com/?p=606 […]]]> Transparency – is an effect that works well both on a large and small screens. It is skilled in creating contrast and firm foundation for navigations, control centers and content, providing them with solid layouts. It is also able to preserve all the beauty of background embellishments and spectacular images that generally has a slight blurred touch.

In addition, you can easily experiment with levels of opacity in order to achieve various effects, for example more light-tight layers add glossy and polished touch to an interface while almost translucent canvases add feeling of delicacy and subtlety. Anyway gauzy backgrounds allow to spice up almost any interface with an elegance and sophistication, furnishing components with a more smooth and flawless look.

Today we are going to take a gander at various exquisite application interfaces that shine with a refinement of low opacity layers.

Crazy New Electric Car Folds Itself In Half To Park http://www.indscoop.com/crazy-new-electric-car-folds-itself-in-half-to-park/ http://www.indscoop.com/crazy-new-electric-car-folds-itself-in-half-to-park/#respond Wed, 16 Oct 2013 13:55:15 +0000 http://www.techinfolabz.com/?p=155 […]]]> An armadillo-inspired micro car from South Korea can shrink itself down to just 65 inches.

13

This absolutely awesome all-electric car, created by engineers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, can fold itself completely in half when parking. Inspired by a certain leprosy-carrying mammal, the Armadillo-T seats two adults and has a top speed of 37 miles per hour.

The video is probably all of the future you can handle in one day:

By folding up its rear half, the 992-pound prototype shrinks from its original length of 110 inches down to just 65 inches. Once a driver has gotten the car near the desired parking space, he or she can get out and use a smartphone to activate “Transformer Mode” (my coinage, someone should pay me for this stuff) and then remotely steer the folded car the rest of the way into the spot.
23

A 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers four in-wheel motors. By putting the motors inside the wheels, the designers freed up space in the car for people. It charges in 10 minutes and can drive about 62 miles on a full battery. Cameras in place of side mirrors reduce blind spots.
32

The Armadillo-T would be ideal for urban car-sharing and near-distance travel within tourist areas or large buildings, says lead researcher In-Soo Suh, associate professor of the Graduate School for Green Transportation at KAIST.

Jessica Alba’s Honest Co. Headquarters http://www.indscoop.com/jessica-albas-honest-co-headquarters/ http://www.indscoop.com/jessica-albas-honest-co-headquarters/#respond Wed, 16 Oct 2013 13:48:53 +0000 http://www.techinfolabz.com/?p=143 […]]]> The actress, entrepreneur, and mom partners with CB2 to create a multifunctional workspace with plenty of visual appeal.

The Office

“I didn’t want a sterile office environment where everyone was isolated from each other,” says actress Jessica Alba of her Honest Company headquarters. So she enlisted the help of CB2’s visual merchandising team to turn a former toy showroom in Santa Monica, California, into a smart yet stylish work space.

Stairway to Honest

The company’s core values are painted in various fonts onto a staircase’s risers to keep workers inspired throughout the day.

Sofa So Good

Comfortable, informal seating arrangements—not the orange poufs—allow for easy conversation, which in turn stimulates creativity and a free-flowing exchange of ideas.

Lunch Options

“I wanted our employees to have flexibility in how they use the space,” Alba says. This kitchen, for example, is an ideal setting for whipping up a healthy snack or impromptu meetings over a brown-bag lunch.

The Cafeteria

Here, rows of communal tables are a stylish update on the company cafeteria.

On the Shelves

Sara Harter, CB2’s Director of Visual Merchandising, installed these sustainable mango-wood shelves throughout the office to provide both storage and aesthetic value. “We love the stories they tell,” she says of the loosely arranged vignettes.

Green Is Good

Alba’s love of nature and sustainable decor is highlighted in the dining area’s vertical succulent garden, which was made with reclaimed wood from shipping pallets.

The Writing’s On The Wall

“My goal was to create a working environment that inspires our team,” says Alba. In her office, bright colors appear at every turn, and a wall of positive-thinking mantras contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

Warm Welcome

“Because this is my home away from home, I was very involved in the design process,” says Alba. To make this reception area feel personal and inviting, Harter incorporated a blend of new furniture—like the peacock-hued sofa—and the actress’s own pieces.

Feels Like Home

Instead of imposing artwork, the Honest Company team opted for residential-style gallery walls that highlight the brand’s biggest sources of inspiration—children. “They’re the reason we created Honest in the first place,” says Alba.
