How to prevent AdSense from showing smaller ads http://www.indscoop.com/how-to-prevent-adsense-from-showing-smaller-ads/ http://www.indscoop.com/how-to-prevent-adsense-from-showing-smaller-ads/#respond Tue, 08 Aug 2017 08:07:39 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=16376 […]]]> Why does AdSense show smaller ads?

Showing a smaller ad in an ad unit you defined might seem like a waste of resources at first. However, this is in fact a feature of AdSense called Similar-sized ads. This simply means that AdSense can show an ad (creative) that was originally set up by the advertiser to have another size than the ad space you defined on your site.

Example:

 • 300×250 (Medium Rectangle) showing up in 328×280 (Large Rectangle) space
 • 468×60 (Full Banner) showing up in 728×90 (Leaderboard)

Why does AdSense do this?

Simply, because it increases competition. The more ads can be potentially display on your site, the higher the competition and the higher the price you will actually get per click or impression.

The downsize of showing an originally smaller ad in a larger space is that it leaves space unused left and right to the centered creative. More about this below.

AdSense resizes larger ads to fit as well

What many publishers don’t know is that also ads that were originally set up to be larger can fit into smaller ad units. E.g., AdSense can resize a Leaderboard (728×90) to fit into a Full Banner (468×60). AdSense does this for the same reason: increasing the competition for you to make more money.

Showing larger ads does not need more space. It will simply be resized to fit into the ad units size you defined.

How to stop smaller ad sizes in AdSense?

You can simply switch off the similar-size feature in your AdSense account. But be warned: this switches off all resize features for all ads. There is no ad-specific setting for this.

Go to My Ads > Allow & Block Ads and click on the Ad serving tag.

In the Display ads section, you will find the Similar sized display ads option right at the top. I switched it off in the example on the screenshot, but it is on by default.

Shout I prevent AdSense resizing ads?

The question that can literally be worth millions is whether you should switch off similar-sizes or not.

I think you shouldn’t. Having only ads displayed that perfectly fit into your ad units might cut the competition to only a fraction and decrease your ad revenue from AdSense a lot.

Can the empty space collapse automatically?

It might be a smart idea to just collape the space left unused if a smaller ad is displayed. However, due to the method AdSense uses to deliver ads and how it predefines the space it is not possible to automatically collapse the size.

Instead, if you want an ad that only takes the available space, take a look at the Responsive ad units from AdSense. They have their flaws too, though.

Let’s just assume there is a way to collapse the unused space automatically in the near future. This might be irritating, too, because it would cause the already loaded content around the ad to move by the collapsed space again.

Reports for Creative sizes

If you like the AdSense performance reports as much as I do, you will be interested in this: Asside from the normal Ad sizes report, there is one called Creative sizes, too. This report contains the sizes of the actually delivered ad sizes, not the ad unit sizes which you defined.

You can combine your ad specific report with the Creative report to see the ad sizes actually delivered to a specific ad.

Use this to see if there are really many smaller or larger ads delivered. If you still think there are too many “wrong” ad sizes used, you can switch your ad units to another size based on this report without losing too much of its performance.

7 Steps to build a website using WordPress http://www.indscoop.com/7-steps-to-build-a-website-using-wordpress/ http://www.indscoop.com/7-steps-to-build-a-website-using-wordpress/#respond Mon, 07 Aug 2017 07:47:39 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=16340 […]]]> WordPress is a publishing platform powering 30 per cent of the websites.

You might find building your own website fulfilling, but unless you know a lot of code, you’ll probably find publishing much on the web frustrating if not impossible. Even if you have advanced coding skills, you’ll find that building your own website and content management system will take a quite a long time.

Thankfully, there’s a completely free open source publishing system you can use to power a website or blog: WordPress. Its usability, and being free, make it the most popular content management system on the web, powering over 75 million websites. It’s also very easy to install – you don’t need to know anything about web coding.

There are really two options for using WordPress – create a website on WordPress.com, or self host a website. It’s really very easy to create a website on WordPress.com, as there are step by step instructions, but the downside is there will be limits on flexibility and how much you can upload. This tutorial is about how to host your own installation of WordPress, as it’ll give you much more freedom to scale and customise your website later on.

1. Domain and hosting

The first step to host WordPress is to ensure you have both a domain and hosting, and that the domain is pointing at the correct nameserver. If you’ve purchased both from the same provider, then it’s simpler.

WordPress is a dynamic publishing system that uses a database – so you must purchase a MySQL database on your hosting package or you won’t be able to install it.

2. WordPress download

Download the latest version of WordPress at wordpress.org/download/and unzip the package.

3. Setting up a database

Your hosting provider will have a section in your website’s cPanel called MySQL databases. You need to navigate to there, set up a database and then then create a user who has access to the database. If you only setup the database, you won’t be able to give the installation access to it, so make sure you create a user.

4. Setup wp-config.php

Open your downloaded package and rename the file wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php, then open it up in a text file (you can use Notepad on Windows).

Scroll down to MySQL settings. There will be a series of criteria you will need to fill out according to how you set up your MySQL database and users in the last step. Basically copy the inputted data for:

DB_NAME

DB_USER

DB_PASSWORD

Then save the wordpress-config.php file.

5. Upload WordPress

Once you’ve filled out this information, access your server via your FTP client. Now you need to drag and drop the contents of your WordPress folder into where you want it to appear. You can place it at the root or in a folder like /blog.

6. Install WordPress

Now that it’s uploaded, just navigate to the install script. This will be at www.yourwebaddress.com/wp-admin/install.php if you installed in the root, or it will follow the folder path if you installed it in a folder. E.g: www.yourwebaddress.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php

If there haven’t been any hiccups, then WordPress should now be installed, and you’ll get a welcome message. If it hasn’t worked, it’ll be worth running through the detailed steps on WordPress.com to see where you may have gone wrong.

On the welcome window, enter your login details, then you’ll be taken through to the login page.

7. Getting a new theme

The most important feature of how your WordPress site will look is in Themes. If you want to change it, you can select from hundreds of free designs. There are also paid for WordPress themes to buy if you want a certain look. Beyond that, you’ll need to edit your theme’s HTML and CSS if you want to customise the precise look of your site.

At this stage, you should be ready to start publishing on WordPress – navigate to Posts >> Add new, add you’ll be able to start publishing.

Patanjali Work Culture: Here’s what life is like in Baba Ramdev’s company http://www.indscoop.com/patanjali-work-culture-heres-what-life-is-like-in-baba-ramdevs-company/ http://www.indscoop.com/patanjali-work-culture-heres-what-life-is-like-in-baba-ramdevs-company/#respond Mon, 31 Jul 2017 07:15:00 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=15883 […]]]> Walk into any high-powered corporation in India, and the picture is the same. You will see a glass-and-chrome office filled mostly with men in suits and ties or, at their most casual, shirts and dark trousers; meetings are usually held around a glossy table, with a screen for a PowerPoint presentation or a white board in the background; professional HR teams manage salary raises, hires and exits.

But what is life like in a company that’s run by a sadhu?

Patanjali Ayurved Limited is India’s fastest growing FMCG company. In May 2017, the company announced that it had doubled revenues in just a year to over Rs 10,000 crore, becoming India’s second largest consumer goods company, second only to Hindustan Unilever. In a single year, Baba Ramdev’s company has leapfrogged past giant companies such as ITC, Nestle, Godrej, Dabur and Tata. So Patanjali is certainly a corporate high performer.

Like any other big FMCG company, Patanjali may have an impressive food park, stretching across acres and acres of land, with state-of-the art machinery imported from around the world, and the factory floor may be governed by intricately detailed standard operating procedures with workers in hair nets and gloves. Yet, I discovered, while working on my book on Ramdev, some fascinating facts that showed a very different culture of work, one that’s completely unique in Indian corporate life.

No Mean Feet
The first — feet-touching. When the saffron dhoti- and shawl-clad Ramdev enters the complex, workers abandon their posts, rush out and queue up to touch his feet. The same treatment is given to Acharya Balkrishna, Ramdev’s short and stocky, white-robed deputy who notionally owns 96% of Patanjali’s shares, and Ram Bharat, Ramdev’s tall, strapping and mustachioed brother who manages the company’s monies.

While it is ordinary for people to touch the feet of a sanyasi like Ramdev as a mark of respect, it certainly isn’t the regular practice in an ashram to revere a brahmachari like Balkrishna or a householder like Ram Bharat.

All major decisions about Patanjali products are taken by Ramdev himself.

Little over a year ago, I witnessed Balkrishna walking into his offices on the first floor of Patanjali’s ayurveda hospital in Haridwar. The hospital staff, administrative officers and guards all rushed to greet him. They touched his feet and he tapped their backs in blessing, occasionally saying, “Khush raho”, be happy.

Not only do employees touch the feet of the leadership team but meetings aren’t the standard round-table affairs. “During meetings, Ramdev sits on a high seat. Everyone else — from the CEO to factory workers — is expected to sit on the floor, below him,” says SK Patra, Patanjali’s CEO between 2011 and 2014. As a result, Patra says, there is a gurubhai culture at Patanjali, a sense of brotherhood — and equality — as disciples of the same teacher.

For the IIT and IIM-educated Patra, the man who laid the foundations for the company’s meteoric rise, and who had a proven track record working with blue-chip firms owned by the Birlas and the Bangurs, this was a source of some tension: it meant that his subordinates viewed him as a gurubhai rather than as their boss. This was one of the reasons why Patra says he eventually left the company in 2014.

Reverence for the guru is just one facet of work life at Patanjali Ayurved. The other is the missionary zeal with which the company is run. More than the man at the helm of a nearly $4 billion commercial enterprise, Ramdev is a man on a swadeshi mission. And so more than a conservative corporate CEO, Ramdev sounds like a colourful crusader.

Will any other CEO say something like, “Colgate ka gate bhi band hoga, Pantene ka to pant gila hone wala hai, Unilever ka lever bhi baithega aur Nestle ki chidiya bhi udegi (The gate of Colgate will shut, Pantene will wet its pants, the lever of Unilever will break down, and the little Nestle bird will fly away),” as Ramdev said about his competition in 2016? Or, even that, “Patanjali has become a great brand, I hear. But you’ve seen nothing yet. There are two things that I have to do. Make all foreign companies do sirshasana (headstand) within five years, and put Mother India on the throne of the world. Kitna mazza aayega (What fun it’ll be)”.

While Ramdev may be an entertaining, and, for India Inc, an unconventional, public speaker, there is no doubt about his business canny. All major decisions about which products Patanjali should produce, and what they should look and feel like, are taken by Ramdev himself, based on instinct, not endless focus groups and data analysis.

Patra recalls that Ramdev’s dream is for Patanjali to make every product that the average Indian uses from dawn to dusk. “He would try out every new product himself — put it on his beard, on his face, use the shampoo himself. He cared deeply about how it looked, how it smelled. He would give the final seal of approval on all new products,” recalls Patra. Patanjali today produces over 500 FMCG products — from biscuits to shampoo, and from ghee to body lotion.

Ramdev try out every new product himself. He would give the final seal of approval on all new products.

Ramdev is personally involved in pricing, too, says Patra. “Baba never cared about what the market prices were. For any product pricing, he was personally involved. He would ask how much it had cost to produce something. Then with a slim margin — he just wanted to sell.” So while 1 kg packet of Tata salt costs Rs 20, Aashirwad Rs 18 and Saffola Rs 31, Patanjali sells it for just Rs 12.

Ramdev has no inherent advantage in salt. In fact, under Patra, Patanjali Ayurved tied up with a salt producer in Gujarat and began to buy in bulk from them, iodize and pack the salt and sell it. But because Ramdev is not too fussed with margins, he is able to underprice the competition in some segments.

Gunendar Kapur, a leading retail and consumer executive who had worked for over a decade at Unilever before joining as CEO and president of Reliance Retail, agrees: ‘He (Ramdev) doesn’t seem to care much about the money, he cares about his own legacy. His margins are very, very low. For formal companies, a profit after tax of less than 15% is too low. Their investors will not be happy with that kind of a performance… Ramdev does not have such a limitation.”

Work is Worship

Ramdev’s willingness to endure low margins is one of the secrets of Patanjali’s ability to keep prices low. But the other ingredient for keeping prices low is the recasting of work or labour as spiritual seva. Ramdev terms working for Patanjali as service, for the benefit of the nation, of swadeshi, of “Indian heritage”, of yoga and ayurveda.

He plays on deeply embedded insecurities about multinational colonisers and so his employees are made to feel like crusaders fighting against foreign companies, not mere workers. The ordinary rules of the labour market don’t apply at Patanjali. And what if an employee wants an annual increment?

The average Patanjali worker on the factory floor earns just Rs 6,000 per month for twelve-hour shifts, six days a week.

Conversations with Patanjali workers, past and present, reveal that Ramdev’s recasting of work as seva of the guru and his larger mission cleverly make it more difficult to demand pay hikes. In the pervasive seva culture at Patanjali only a “selfish” person would ask for an increment. If anyone does manage to overcome their inhibitions and ask for a raise, they are promptly reminded that there are many others willing to take their place in the assembly line, says a worker on the condition of anonymity. And so the average Patanjali worker on the factory floor earns just Rs 6,000 per month for twelve-hour shifts, six days a week.

Haridwar is an unlikely place for a multibillion-dollar homegrown company to have come up. A saffron-robed sadhu an unlikely captain of the ship. But perhaps what sums up Patanjali’s exceptionalism is what Ramdev said: “The purpose is not to accumulate any great wealth for myself. Look, there is an empire worth crores, no, hundreds of crores around us today, but even today, I sleep in a hut on the floor. Whatever I have got from the country, it is for the country. The wealth of Patanjali is not for any one person — it is for the country. It is all for charity.”

11 useful WhatsApp features you didn’t know existed http://www.indscoop.com/11-useful-whatsapp-features-you-didnt-know-existed/ http://www.indscoop.com/11-useful-whatsapp-features-you-didnt-know-existed/#respond Wed, 26 Jul 2017 10:56:23 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=15778 […]]]> Dodge the blue ticks

WhatsApp’s blue ticks show when sent messages have been read, but you can disable them buy going to Settings > Account > Privacy > Read Receipts. However, bear in mind that, by doing so, you’ll lose the ability to see when your own sent messages have been read. Another, more fiddly way of reading your messages without triggering the blue ticks, is enabling Aeroplane Mode before opening your messages – just remember to close the app before switching Aeroplane Mode off again.

Hide your ‘last seen’ time

Prevent your friends from finding out when you were last online by hiding your last seen time. Go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Last Seen. As is the case with disabling read receipts, hiding your ‘last seen’ time will also stop you from seeing anybody else’s.

Limit data usage

You can control how much data you munch through on WhatsApp by limiting the types of media you automatically download on a mobile connection. Go to Settings > Data Usage and choose the best option for you.

Customise notifications

If you’re expecting an important WhatsApp message from someone, set a custom notification for them by opening the chat, tapping their name at the top and hitting Custom Notifications.

Format your messages

To jazz up any of your messages, simply highlight it by tapping and holding it, hit the More Options key on the pop-up menu and tap the formatting option you want – bold, italic, strikethrough or monospace.

Type hands-free

You can get Siri or Google Assistant to type your WhatsApp messages out for you by saying either “Hey Siri” or “Okay Google”, followed by the name of the person you want to message and the actual contents of the message.

Mark chats as unread

When you’ve read a message but can’t reply to it straight away, you can set a visual reminder by marking it as unread. On Android, long-press the conversation, and on iOS, swipe from left to right on a chat.

Email entire conversations

You almost certainly won’t do this on a regular basis, but it’s a handy option to have. You can export entire conversations – complete with emoji and media attachments – by hitting More inside a chat a selecting Email Chat.

Mass-message contacts

You can send the same message to lots of your contacts without lumping them all into one group, much like the BCC option on email, by hitting the New Broadcast option on the app’s main menu.

Pin conversations

You pin up to three contacts and groups to the top of your WhatsApp conversation list by tapping and holding a chat, then hitting the pin icon.

Make things easier to find

You can easily mark key messages with a star, allowing you to find them easily when you need to. Just tap and hold a message and hit the star icon to save it, and return to it later by selecting Starred Messages in WhatsApp’s main menu.

Top 5 Android auto headunits for your car http://www.indscoop.com/top-5-android-auto-headunits-for-your-car/ http://www.indscoop.com/top-5-android-auto-headunits-for-your-car/#respond Mon, 12 Jun 2017 03:26:38 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=14381 […]]]> There are a number of vehicles hitting the roads these days with Android Auto built in. But not everyone is buying a new car just yet. So another way to get Android Auto in your vehicle is with a new head unit for your car. There are plenty of great ones available from JBL, Sony, Pioneer and JVC/Kenwood. We’ve gathered the best ones available and listed them below.

1.Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX

This is Pioneer’s high-end model, which will run you around $800 normally, for the head unit itself. This head unit does support Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay, for those that may have an iPhone as well. There’s also support for SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and maps using Nokia’s HERE Maps. There are maps stored offline for the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, so you can save your smartphone’s data.

2. Sony XAV-AX100

Sony’s option here is a bit of a low-end model. It’s pretty bare as far as features go. Really only offering up Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support for users. But it does also offer up some pretty great sound (of course, that’s expected from Sony these days). There are four 55W speakers available with this head unit, which offers a pretty great audio experience.

3. JBL Legend CP100

Now this is by far the cheapest head unit available. It basically does just Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and that’s about it. It comes in at under $400, which is pretty great for a head unit, really. There’s also FM radio included, but that’s about it. There’s no Bluetooth (other than for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), nor satellite radio included here.

4. Kenwood DDX9703S

Kenwood has a great option here in the DDX9703S, it was announced earlier this year at CES, and is one of the better head units out there. Like every other head unit on this list, it does support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so if you do switch to an iPhone down the road, you’re still good to go. Like Pioneer, it does also support satellite radio, built-in navigation as well as a few apps like Pandora are included.

5. Pioneer AVH4200NEX

This is Pioneer’s lower-end model, coming in at around $500. The main difference between this and the AVIC8200NEX that was listed above, is the fact that it doesn’t have it’s own built-in maps and navigation, nor storage for storing maps offline. But it does still have Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio and much more. There’s even Pandora built in, so you are able to stream your favorite stations easily.

5 things to know before putting money in a payments bank http://www.indscoop.com/5-things-to-know-before-putting-money-in-a-payments-bank/ http://www.indscoop.com/5-things-to-know-before-putting-money-in-a-payments-bank/#respond Wed, 29 Mar 2017 04:11:45 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=13770 […]]]> Payments banks are stripped down versions of banks that have existed for many decades. The Reserve Bank of India, in 2015, gave licences 11 companies, including Reliance Industries, Aditya Birla Nuvo, Paytm, Airtel and Vodafone, to open payments bank.

Image result for how airtel payment bank works

The banks are aimed to reach out to the unbanked population of the country, many of which live in very small towns and villages.

1.Mobile banks: In its true sense, the payments banks will be mobile only banks, which mean they will not have full-fledged branches like an SBI, ICICI Bank or HDFC Bank. The account holders will be able to operate their accounts using the mobile app.

2.Small savings and small loans: Up to Rs 1 lakh of deposits can be made in a payments bank account. Also, the bank will be able to give loans up to Rs 1 lakh, especially targeted at small merchants.

3.ATM and debit cards: The cards issued by the payments bank can be used across the banking network and at any bank’s ATM for cash withdrawal.

4.Mobile services: It allows transfers and remittances through the mobile, offers services such as automatic payments of bills, cashless purchases, chequeless transactions through a phone, and money transfer directly to bank accounts at nearly no cost being a part of the gateway that connects banks.

5.Saving account and interest: Like any normal bank account, the payments bank account holder will earn interest on the balance in their savings account. For example, Airtel offers 7.25% to savings account holder. The interest are expected to be higher as the bank has less infrastructure cost.

8 Places You Should Always Use Your Credit Card [Infographic] http://www.indscoop.com/8-places-you-should-always-use-your-credit-card-infographic/ http://www.indscoop.com/8-places-you-should-always-use-your-credit-card-infographic/#respond Wed, 08 Mar 2017 07:50:51 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=13742 […]]]> Not everyone is a fan of using credit cards for purchases. They are, however, pretty convenient and they allow you to earn rewards. Beyond that, though, there are some additional benefits to using plastic for your purchase. This infographic lists eight items you should always use a credit card to pay for along with the reasons why.

In the below infographic, Business Insider lists eight times you should opt for credit. For example, they suggest using credit when you pay for a car rental because most cards offer car rental insurance. Plus, when you pay with debit, it will usually require a big deposit.

Even if you’re not into credit cards, the infographic points out some useful perks cards can offer for those purchases. It’s worth noting, though, that you should always use credit cards responsibly, and that means paying them in full and on time. Please don’t take this as an excuse to finance an expensive new laptop you don’t need with credit!

Aadhaar Pay: now pay bills with your thumb http://www.indscoop.com/aadhaar-pay-now-pay-bills-with-your-thumb/ http://www.indscoop.com/aadhaar-pay-now-pay-bills-with-your-thumb/#respond Wed, 08 Mar 2017 06:38:59 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=13738 […]]]> The government launched an Aadhaar card-linked payments system that will allow customers to ditch their debit and credit cards and pay using fingerprints.

Aadhaar Pay, a new Android-based smartphone app, will also eliminate the fee charged by private card companies such as MasterCard and Visa. The app is available on Google Play Store.

Merchants must download the app on smartphones connected to a biometric reader. A customer has to enter her Aadhaar number in the app and select a bank for payment. Biometric scans are used as passwords.

This is the government’s latest move to encourage people to go cashless. The app was first announced by finance minister Arun Jaitley in his budget speech in February. The government targets 25 billion digital transactions on various new payments platforms in 2017-18.

The government issued one billion Aadhaar cards till April 2016, the latest year for which data is available. At least 400 million of these are linked to bank accounts, and the government hopes to link the rest by the end of this month.

Aadhaar Pay has been developed by IDFC Bank in collaboration with several government organisations, including the agency that controls Aadhar cards.

The bank hopes to enrol up to 75,000 merchants over the next two years, said its founder and CEO Rajiv Lall.

“Basic banking services will come to those who do not have even basic mobile phones,” he said.

The State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank will launch their merchant platforms for Aadhaar Pay in the coming weeks.

The app has some limitations, though.

It works only where there is internet connection, unlike debit or credit card machines which can work on telephone lines. Plus, the app can’t be used to transfer funds or get immediate information on refunds.

All you know about VoLTE for your Jio Sim http://www.indscoop.com/all-you-know-about-lte-and-volte-for-your-jio-sim/ http://www.indscoop.com/all-you-know-about-lte-and-volte-for-your-jio-sim/#respond Wed, 08 Mar 2017 06:31:01 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=13728 […]]]> With Jio 4G SIM in your device, you must have noticed an extra HD or VoLTE icon besides network bars in the notification panel. This icon is very important for your voice service with Jio 4G SIM card.

Unlike traditional network operators where voice calls were made based over network bar (radio), voice call in Jio 4G is dependent on VoLTE or HD. This is a separate entity in network architecture other than radio access.

So in short for Jio 4G:

 1. Network bars with 4G icon will give access to data network i.e. internet and not voice.
 2. For voice cervices your phone should register on VoLTE server which is indicated by icon HD or VoLTE.
 3. Any fluctuation in network coverage will not affect your voice call service as long as your phone has HD or VOLTE icon (VoLTE registered).
 4. In case your HD or VoLTE icon disappears, you will not be able to make or receive voice calls. So you can reboot phone or toggle flight mode to see if the icon reappears.
 5. It is most unlikely that the icon may disappear but you can always use above method if it happens.

For other 2G/3G/4G operators, normally people look for network bars and if its available they go for voice call.
But for Jio 4G you will have to look for both network bars and HD or VoLTE icon to go forward with the voice call.

When registered on HD or VoLTE, user can experience est in class voice and video calls to other Jio 4G users.
The audio clarity is very good as the voice transmission takes place over IP network.

Broadly speaking, when you power up your phone:

 • First phone has to register to network for data services and,
 • Then register to another server for voice call facility.

Now some device do not support VoLTE from hardware itself and so they will have to use “JioVoice app” for voice services.
When this app is installed you will have a JioVoice phone dialer similar to your default phone dialer app.
There will be no HD or VoLTE icon in notification bar when using “JioVoice app” but you can still make or receive calls from this app.
In short you will have to replace your default phone dialer app to “JioVoice app”.

Note: JioVoice app works only when Jio 4G SIM card is inserted in you phone.

This made the company a huge hit and people were even ready to stand in queues for hours to get a Jio sim. One thing to note is that Jio has started its telecom operations only on its 4G network so the customers would not get 2G or 3G services like standard voice calls. The customers would need a VoLTE (Voice over LTE) ready phones to make phone calls on Jio network.

Although, Reliance Jio had a limitation of operating on 4G only phones(preferably Volte phones), it made a reverse effect on the mobile industry where the sales of the 4G Volte ready phones saw a huge jump. Reliance Jio also launched their own 4G Volte smartphones at lower prices starting at 2,999. To be fair, this phones were mostly used to create hotspot, so that people can use the Jio 4G data. All in all, this created a havoc in the telecom industry with the well-established operators like Vodafone and Airtel who had also launched their 4G services in India to lower their data rates.

Jio Prime

Reliance Jio last month made an announcement that it’s free services are ending wherein they offered Unlimited Data, Unlimited Voice Calls & SMS on 31st March. Instead, they have launched a Jio Prime plan. This plan offers Unlimited Data, Voice Calls and SMS for Rs.303/month. The plan includes 1GB 4G data/day and Unlimited everything else. Also worth noting is that, Reliance Jio offers a non-prime plan at the same price of 303/- per month but in this plan, instead of the 1GB/Day in the prime plan, the non-prime plan only offers 2.5 GB per month.

Vodafone 4G plans 2017

Vodafone, one of the top cellular network companies in India had to counter the pricing war started by Reliance Jio to offer reasonable 4G plans at the similar price to maintain company’s loyal customer base. Vodafone has now introduced a 4G plan of Rs 342/- or Rs 346/- per month (Validity:28 Days) as part of Vodafone’s “Welcome Back” offer. This plan is similar to Jio’s plan in terms of validity and data offered. Vodafone’s plan include 1GB data per night and 1Gb data per night.

Also if the customers enroll in this offer by doing the recharge of this amount, those customers are eligible for this offer for the next 11 months. Airtel has launched a prepaid plan of Rs 345/- where on the recharge of this specified amount, the customers will get 1GB data per day resulting in 28 GB data per month. It is also effective in treating diabetes. Grapefruits are refreshing and help to control the glucose level of the blood in a time span of three days. This is also an important anti-diabetic fruit. Rose apple positively affects the pancreas. This prevents the starch from converting into sugar form that increase the level of glucose in the body. Rose apple also quenches thirst and stops excessive urination.Even though fruits are beneficial for diabetics, they cannot replace medication treatment. Fruits can only help patients preventing or controlling symptoms, but cannot treat this disease.

Unripe jack fruit has low glysemic index. The glysemic index of unripe jackfruit is less than rice and wheat. Hence it is recommended for diabetic. A study conducted on unripe jackfruit found that 30 grams of unripe jackfruit equals one cup of rice or two chapathis

5 reasons why India is Better than Dubai http://www.indscoop.com/5-reasons-why-india-is-better-than-dubai/ http://www.indscoop.com/5-reasons-why-india-is-better-than-dubai/#respond Mon, 27 Feb 2017 04:14:14 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=13662 […]]]> From my recent visit to Dubai, guess I can list out few things in India I like better than Dubai just based on my observations.

1. Use of Mobile Wallet

Heard that ‘Etisalat’ has a Mobile Wallet in Dubai, but sadly nobody aware of it and hardly find any place using mobile wallet. In India ‘Paytm’ is accepted everywhere, starting from street merchants. I’m paying 7RS tea using mobile wallet. Thanks to #Paytm #Mobikwik #freecharge.

2. Mobile Phone service providers

There are only two service providers in Dubai unlike in India, Etisalat and Du. No more competition , so call rates are very high. I had to pay AED 50 for a new prepaid sim. In India So many Service providers and competition is very high, call/data tariffs are very cheap, after the entry of ‘jio’ almost everything is free.

3. Online Recharging

Didn’t find any recharging method online for my prepaid mobile. Need to go to a kiosk to recharge using cash. Same for metro card recharging, no online option need to go to metro station counter to recharge

4. Uber Rocks in India

Uber Taxis are cheaper than auto fare in India. But Uber is costlier than normal taxis in Dubai. UBer rocks in India

5.VoIP is blocked in Dubai

If you live in or travel to Dubai, you may encounter some blocks to internet content and your online activity could be supervised. The UAE’s has various censorship laws, which blocks some internet content, including Skype, Flickr, porn, and torrenting, and gives the government the right to monitor your activity.

Roadtrip from my Dubai Visit

OIL Money: Yup.. a litre of petrol costs AED 1.5, but a coffee costs AED 5

Cycles and Motor Cycles: Hmm.. only the pizza, paper and courier delivery boys, use bikes and cylces in Dudai. India?

Address: No name board contains the address in dubai, unlike in India.

360-Degree Video Support Coming To VLC Android App http://www.indscoop.com/360-degree-video-support-coming-to-vlc-android-app/ http://www.indscoop.com/360-degree-video-support-coming-to-vlc-android-app/#respond Mon, 28 Nov 2016 04:46:20 +0000 http://www.indscoop.com/?p=13634 […]]]> The VLC media player is one of the most popular programs of its kind in the world. In addition to playing almost every media format ever invented and boasting a plethora of customization options, VLC also gained a whole lot of fans by being developed as an open-source software project. The Android port of this popular player has been available on the Google Play Store for over four years now and just like every other version of VLC, the app has been receiving regular updates ever since then.

Speaking of which, VLC developers just announced another major feature for their media player. Namely, as of a few days ago, this piece of software boasts support for 360-degree videos. The said functionality is still in an experimental phase of development and is currently only available through a technical preview version of VLC for computers running Windows and macOS. However, VideoLAN already confirmed that support for 360-degree videos will be packed with the VLC 3.0 which is slated for an official release in the next couple of days.

This feature has been developed in collaboration with Giroptic, a San Francisco, California-based virtual reality startup best-known for its portable 360-degree cameras. According to VideoLAN, Giroptic has provided them with video and code samples, cameras, and guidance while they were developing VLC support for 360-degree videos. The wording of VideoLAN’s press release suggests that the Californian firm helped them free of charge, simply for the sake of driving the global adoption of 360-degree video content. The Android version of VLC is expected to introduce this feature at some point next year. In addition to that, VideoLAN announced that they’re planning to bring VLC to VR headsets including HTC Vive, Google Daydream, and Oculus Rift. That VLC port is also expected to hit the market next year. Last but not least, developers confirmed that 360-degree audio support for the Android version of VLC is also in the works, though no release window for the thereof has yet been given. All in all, aficionados of 360-degree videos have a lot to look forward to next year. Regarding the VLC technical preview mentioned above, keep in mind that this feature is still a work in progress so it may not run seamlessly before VideoLAN launches VLC 3.0.

Matched Content by Google Adsense now Shows Promoted Ads http://www.indscoop.com/matched-content-google-adsense-now-shows-promoted-ads/ Mon, 08 Feb 2016 09:16:47 +0000 http://www.technewstimes.com/?p=2970 […]]]> Add Additional Income with Adsense Contextual Ads

Its been quite some time Google has introduced Matched Content right after introducing Page Level Ads. These two types of ads were introduced keeping in mind the rise of contextual advertising networks like Taboola. Adsense also went a step ahead with Page Level ads which comprises of Sticky and Interstitial ads.

Most of my websites are approved for showing both Page Level and Matched content ads. However I paused using Page Level Ads which were giving low RPM and continued using Matched Content. One interesting thing I have noticed the past few days is though Google Adsense Matched content started by saying that it should only related posts on your own blog/website it slowly started experimenting showing different types of Ads along with Matched content on your site.

Initially I noticed Google Adsense used to show an extra ad right below matched content on Mobile Devices. Though the fill rate was low, this was visible for only few mobile users as Adsense was doing a test.

The below are the screenshots of Matched Content Ads that I found on my blog:

Below you can see in the screenshots matched content showing PROMOTED BY

And today I have noticed that Google Adsense went a step ahead and started showing related ads of other websites just like Taboola along with your existing related articles. As of now I am noticing these ads only on Mobile Devices, may be Google is still testing out and once their test is finished they will make a full roll out on all devices.

I also started noticing Matched Content showing up in Adsense Earnings as well.

Thereby Google Adsense has created a new opportunity to make money from your blog with Contextual Advertising. So, if you are an approved publisher to display Matched content then implement it right away.

How to Quickly Start Making Money With Freelancer.com http://www.indscoop.com/quickly-start-making-money-freelancer-com/ Tue, 08 Dec 2015 05:05:11 +0000 http://www.technewstimes.com/?p=2893 […]]]> A few days ago I needed a PHP developer instantly to make some changes in my site and one of my friends suggested me to hire the one on Freelancer.com. I did the same; hired a developer online, he got the task done and finally I payed him off. So, after spending a few time on freelancer.com I realized that anybody with even less skills can start making money online by becoming a freelancer on Freelancer.com.

It’s really very easy and quick way to start making money online. Previously I used to think that blogging is the only great medium to make good money online but after spending time on Freelancer.com, I realized that it’s the great platform to make more money with less efforts.

What the Freelancer.com Actually is?

Freelancer.com is actually a global outsourcing marketplace, which allows employers to post different jobs to be done online in a limited time, and any relevant skilled user on Freelancer.com can apply for the job and after completion of the task, he/she will be paid out by the employer.

In more simple words, Freelancer.com is a marketplace where employers and employees are able to find each other. The site allows employers to post work to get done. Anybody is then able to offer quotes to complete the project, upon which point the original employer is able to award the work.

This platform is not only for developers or programmers to make money, in fact with any of your skill (including mobile phones, computing, content writing, photoshop, designing, data entry, administration, product sourcing, manufacturing, language translation and many more), it lets you make money online by finding projects with your skills.

Getting Started with Freelancer.com

If you decided to start making money with Freelancer.com, the first thing you will have to do is create your account. For this, visit Freelancer.com and click on Sign up link to register.

The sign up process is very easy. You can either sign up with Facebook or by providing your details like email, username and password. As shown in the following screenshot, it will also ask you whether you’re signing up to hire employees or work as an employee.

Sign up at Freelancer

After signing up to Freelancer, setup your profile by filling up the required details such as your skills, your per hour dollar value to work (in other words, this is your per hour cost you will be paid out by employer), payment method verification, email verification and more.

As soon as you will complete your profile, you will start receiving notifications about the new projects related to your skills saved in your profile.

Or you can search for new projects related to your skills in Freelancer.com. For this, you just need to login in to your account, and in the Work tab, you can browse different new projects to apply for them.

Find New Projects in Freelancer

Once you find a new project that you can easily complete, just open the project and then click on Bid on this Project button, and then choose your bid/amount that will be paid out to you.

Place Bid on Freelancer

Keep bidding on the projects of your skills like this and wait for the employer’s response. If any employer will find you able to get his/her project done, he/she will contact you.

Finally, after completing the project, the same will award you the money. But, always remember that only start working on the project if employer created a milestone payment with you. Now, what is milestone payment? The company explains it like the following:

At your request, Freelancer.com will accept an advance payment from an Employer for a project. We will hold such funds (a “Milestone Payment™“) until the Employer and the Freelancer agree that the funds should be released to the Freelancer.
