Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) water
  • 2 tbsp (25 mL) lemon juice
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1/4 cup (50 mL) dry breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) chopped fresh thyme
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) pepper
  • 1 lb (454 g) lean ground chicken or turkey
  • 4 hamburger buns

Method:

  • In bowl, beat together egg, water and lemon juice.
  • Stir in onion, BREAD crumbs, thyme, salt and pepper; mix in chicken.
  • Shape into four 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick patties.
  • Place on greased grill over medium-high heat; close lid and grill, turning once, until digital thermometer inserted sideways into centre reads 165°F (74°C), about 10 minutes.
  • Sandwich in buns.
