Mercedes launched the GLC in the Indian market mid last year, in both petrol and diesel guise. Both are 4-cylinder units that were on offer, in the 300 petrol and 220 diesel format. The 43 AMG has the same engine as that on the C43, which means it is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 unit making 357 Bhp and 521 Nm. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, which transmits power to all 4 wheels. It also gets Mercedes’s air body control and air suspension as standard. The GLC 43 AMG accelerates from 0-100 in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. Driving modes will also be on offer, where the driver can choose between Eco, Comfort, Sport , Sport Plus and Individual, based on what characteristics the driver wants from the vehicle.
Changes to the AMG variant include a new AMG grille, larger air intakes on the bumper, 19″ AMG rims, all-black interiors with red stitching and a new AMG steering wheel.
The GLC 43 AMG will be the third model in their 43 line up. The 43 trim line was recently introduced, as an entry level AMG for those who wanted the practicality and yet wanted something special. The GLC 43 is expected to be priced around the Rs 80 lakh mark, since the C 43 is priced at Rs 74.5 lakhs and the GLE 43 AMG Coupe is priced at Rs 90.96 lakhs, which means this will slot right in the middle of both of them. It is expected to be launched in July this year, following the launch of the GLA facelift.
