Sony had launched its Xperia X series last month. The new range replaces the previous Xperia Z series of smartphones. The first two smartphones to launch under this new series are the Xperia X and Xperia XA, priced at Rs 48,990 and Rs 20,990 respectively. While the Xperia X has already gone on sale, a teaser by Sony hints that the Xperia XA will be going on sale tomorrow.
Sony has tweeted a silhouette of a smartphone, along with the caption, “Borderless design – Stunning low-light Selfie. This Friday!” Though the smartphone is in the dark, the size and shape are reminiscent of the Xperia XA smartphone. As for its selfie shooting capabilities, the Xperia XA features an 8-megapixel auto-focus front-facing shooter with Sony’s Exmor R sensor, wide-angle lens and HDR support.
Sony Xperia XA specifications, features:
The smartphone features a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS LCD display, MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card.
The Xperia XA also features a 13-megapixel rear snapper, 2,300mAh battery with Stamina mode, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.
At Rs 20,990, the Xperia XA seems grossly overpriced. The likes of Lenovo ZUK Z1, LeEco Le 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are priced under Rs 15,000, yet offer much better set of specifications and features.
