      About New SsangYong Tivoli

      After acquiring fame in global markets, Mahindra is readying to spin off SsangYong’s compact SUV, Tivoli in India. Aimed at youngsters, the upcoming SUV shares design cues with XIV-Air and AIV-Adventure concepts. Featuring SsangYong’s new generation design language, Tivoli is a visually appealing SUV.

      Around 70 per cent of the body is composed of high strength steel. Engine set is likely to include petrol and diesel choices, while the gearbox options may comprise of an automatic tranny along with a manual transmission. Mahindra is looking at assembling this Korean make at its manufacturing facility located in Chakan, this will in turn cut down on cost saving the additional excise duty levied on CBUs.

      New SsangYong Tivoli Exteriors
      Design is expected to be contemporary, the front may feature a lean grille flanked by a set of swooping head lights. Lower bumper is likely to get fog lamps and air dams with a honey-comb backdrop. A thin body cladding is expected to add the much required sporty flair to the SUV. Roof rails, alloy wheels and brief use of chrome are likely to ornate exteriors.

      New SsangYong Tivoli Interiors
      Wheelbase measuring 2600 mm combined with 1795 mm of width translates into a lavish cabin offering extravagant space to the occupants. Interiors could come with an option of black, beige and red colour schemes. At the back, the SUV may feature a 100 per cent folding seat. Probable equipment list for the SUV includes a flat-bottomed steering wheel along with a touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control system etc.

      New Engine specification & Transmission
      Power is likely to be drawn by a 1.6 litre petrol engine and an e-XDi 160 diesel powertrain. The same sets of engines are available on the Korean and Europe-spec versions of Tivoli. The petrol unit makes around 113 Bhp of top power along with 300 Nm of torque. Diesel motor on the other hand develops 126 Bhp and 160 Nm. As for transmission choices, a six-speed Aisin automatic and a manual gearbox are on cards for the domestic market.

      New SsangYong Tivoli Competition
      Compact SUV segment is slowly swelling in size with new entrants driving in every now and then, for this upcoming model, competition will be stern facing heat from Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Hyundai Creta. However there is yet no clarity from Mahindra regarding the positioning of Tivoli in its portfolio.

      New SsangYong Tivoli Expected Price
      Expected to be assembled locally in India at Mahindra’s Chakan facility in Pune Maharashtra, pricing is likely to be competitive along the lines of competition.

      Expected Launch
      Post its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, Mahindra may head for a mid-2016 launch in India.
