The world of smartphones may have been celebrating the new iPhones and the Galaxy Note 10 flagships but one phone that marked a revolution in this category early in the year is the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Despite going through initial reliability issues, the Galaxy Fold was launched in global markets earlier this month. And if the rumours are to be believed, Samsung’s foldable phone might make it to India by October.
According to reports, Samsung is planning to bring the Galaxy Fold to India by October 1. The news isn’t confirmed but an IANS report claims that Samsung’s flagship folding phone will be making it to the Indian shores from October. The phone will be available via retail stores and it can only be purchased via pre-bookings.
The report also mentioned the expected pricing for the Samsung flagship, which is expected to be upwards of Rs 1 lakh. In fact, the Galaxy Fold could start at Rs 1.5 lakhs and go all the way up to Rs 1.75 lakhs. This will make it one of the most expensive Samsung smartphone in India, beating Samsung’s own Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy Note 10 Plus.
In the global markets where the phone is available for purchase, Samsung is offering exclusive access to specialized customer care services, including one-on-one access to Samsung experts and 24×7 online as well as phone-based customer support.
The Galaxy Fold is the first foldable smartphone to be sold globally with a folding screen. The Fold was debuted earlier in 2019 and it was meant to sit on top of the Galaxy S10 series as Samsung’s latest premium flagship offering. The Fold comes with a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display on the inside and a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display on the outside. The phone was initially struggling with display issues for the inner screen and hence Samsung had to improve the design to make it more durable.
Apart from the folding display, the Galaxy Fold also had many other notable features. Samsung has built-in an array of six cameras in total, hosting a 10-megapixel camera on the front cover, a combination of a 10-megapixel and an 8-megapixel dual camera on the inside, and a triple camera setup on the back with a 12-megapixel main camera along with a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera.
The Fold is powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset along with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The phone is kept alive with two smaller batteries to add to a total of 4380mAh capacity battery. The phone also comes with a specially customised version of Android that supports app continuity and Multi-Active Window.
