Starting November 12, you will be able to book a train ticket online on IRCTC web portal 30 minutes before the train departure. Indian Railways will now prepare two charts before the train departure. The first reservation chart will be made four hours before the departure of a train, while the second and the final chart will be prepared 30 minutes before the train departs.
With this announcement, now travelers will be allowed to book tickets both online and at reservation counters before the train departs. Indian Railways has also made it mandatory for the concerned department to finalize the reservation chart four hours before the departure of train.
IRCTC believes that this new move will offer passengers an option to buy train tickets even after the preparation of reservation charts. The second and final chart will be made available to onboard ticket checking staff.
This is a big step, as there are many passengers who plan to travel a couple of hours before the train departs. So, in that case they can now easily book a ticket online or at the ticket counter.
