Xiaomi has pulled the wraps from its Redmi Note 3 phablet at an event in China and as expected, it will be the first smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer to come with a Fingerprint scanner. Before any confusion arises, the Note 3 is the same device which was making rounds on the Internet recently as the Redmi Note 2 Pro.

As with all of the Xiaomi devices, even the Note 3 comes in at an affordable price tag of 899 RMB ($140) and the highlight of the device will be the rear fingerprint scanner. Unlike the first generation Note phones, the Note 3 comes clad in a metallic body and will be backed by a mammoth 4000mAh battery pack, the phone will be initially made available in China. The 5.5-inch FHD display supports reading mode in which the display will switch to an ambient level optimized for reading by reducing the bluelight.

The design is sleek and it reeks premium, it doesn’t look like a budget phone by any yardstick. The Redmi Note 3 is powered by a Helio X10 MediaTek Chipset and slightly heavier than its predecessor. The Redmi Note 3 borrows the 13-Megapixel primary sensor and the 5-Megapixel secondary sensor from the Redmi Note 2.

The Redmi Note 3 is the first Xiaomi device to sport a fingerprint scanner, something that other manufacturers have been incorporating in their devices from quite some time. Xiaomi will be unveiling its Mi Wallet and this explains the Fingerprint sensor on the Note 3, it is very likely that even the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will get a fingerprint sensor.

The design looks similar to the Meizu M2, but with metallic body and a fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi had a field day as it not just released the Note 3 but also the sequel for its popular tablet lineup in the form of Mi Pad 2. The new tablet is powered by an Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor as opposed to the Nvidia in its predecessor. The display concludes at 7.9-inch and the tablet boasts of a 5-megapixel camera at both front and back. The Mi Pad 2 will also support USB Type-C and will be priced starting from 999 RMB and will retail in both 32GB and 64GB variant’s. Mi Pad 2 will be available in Dark Grey and Champagne Gold colour options.

Xiaomi has also launched the second generation of its air purifier and the version 2 boasts of being lighter and smaller.
